How to Start Your First Blog Post? Jetlag!

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Some smart person, somewhere.

Me, doing one of my favorite things- traveling.

It's 5:30 AM and I am sitting on my bed in my parent's home, where I am visiting from my relatively new home and I am writing my first blog post, dammit. I really believe and have personally experienced that there's nothing better for productivity than the early morning. Unfortunately, being the night owl and lover of sleep that I am, the only time I usually see the early morning is when it is actually the afternoon in my jet-lagged head.

I've been writing my whole life, but somehow with the full time job I've usually had and a life that sometimes moves and sometimes sits too still for comfort it is hard to make the time for it. I've been too distracted living, you could say. Or too content procrastinating, maybe. Anyways, the idea in writing this blog is to make some space to write regularly, about travel, because it is my passion to travel, my one-thing-I-want-to-do-and-can-talk-about-for-hours-always-no-matter-how-hard-times-are-or-what-changes sort of passion.

I also love to eat. It's kind of an obsession, and I'm a mostly vegetarian who sometimes eats fish, so I'm excited to write about the food I eat. There's the music I like, and random thoughts on things I see or read or hear. And ideas. So much to say about so many ideas and things happening in the world. And travel tips from the things I've learned and the research I've done, to share with you to hopefully make your travel experience better, smoother, cooler, funner, more enjoyable or interesting.

I'd like to say I'll try to steer clear of politics if only because they are so divisive that they might need a special place of their own, but I feel passionately about some things, so I might fail and include politics here. Stay tuned and be surprised! And then I can write about writing....

As for the name of the blog--Supernational----I picked it to reflect these wide-ranging interests centered around the pleasures and idiosyncrasies of traveling abroad, because there are adventures and uniqueness to be mined most everywhere. Supernational also reflects my personality: international and enthusiastic about discovering the world.

Perhaps my mind is in so many places, and my feet itch to travel so much, because I grew up in three different countries and have continued moving as an adult. Home seems to be always changing, and these days I feel that there is no place I can entirely call home, though New York and Miami have come close. I was born in Israel and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina and in Miami, where I went to college and studied abroad for a summer in Paris. I went to law school in the college town of Gainesville, Florida, and for the past seven years I have lived in New York. These days home is Tel Aviv, and who knows where I will live next. Given that, it's likely that wherever I live I am just traveling, even at home.

But, you know, I think the nature of a blog is that it doesn't really get its voice, or its personality, until you've really done some writing and some posting. And so without further ado, let's begin.
